Gor Pekan Baru, Riau
GOR or Gedung Olah Raga (stadium) in Pekan Baru is the first job of its kind in Indonesia to use M System as the basic material for construction of the grand seating (tribune). This goes on to show that the M System is versatile to the limit of the creativity of the designer.
Several advantages of the M System in this project :
- it provided easy shaping of curved surfaces
- heavy lifting equipment was not required due to its light weight
- the simple construction rendered the job manageable by local labour
- sand and cement needed to fixate the M System were easily obtainable locally and were
relatively cheap, as opposed to an addition of large amount of gravel needed to mix concrete in the case of conventional methods.
On completion of the GOR project in Pekan Baru, M System was entrusted with another similar project in Jakarta for the tribune of a church building.
